Hi
Has anyone hired a private chef in Nice? Looking for someone to come to our Air BNB to make us a 60th birthday dinner. Budget is $$ to $$$ out of $$$$
Chef will supply food and clean up.
Thanks
A chef will need a good working kitchen with a lot of equipment. This can be found in a high-end rental through specialized agencies or a rental that comes with a chef. Friends stayed in a chateau with a chef included.
I’ve been in some poorly designed and outfitted rental kitchens. My French apartment that I own won’t fit a US-size cookie sheet in the oven. ( Yes a new kitchen is going in.)
So if you don’t rent a house or apartment with a chef’s services included, you may want to have a meal catered and brought in. A high-end travel agency can help you with all of this.
The home we are renting has a new remodeled large kitchen. I am currently checking into a company called Take A Chef
Sounds like the appropriate kitchen part is covered and you have a good lead and knowledge of how to get it done. Hope you get some suggestions.
Whew, I had envisioned some of the awful kitchens I’d run into. LOL
Have not done this in Nice, but have in the Alps. Many individual chefs have
their own websites, so search should find them. You still have to vet them and
price out the package you want, though.
I would think that between Monaco and Cannes, there would be plenty of chefs,
but this could also be a seasonal type of thing. Many chefs are seasonally mobile.
You don't say when you are looking to have the dinner.
Maybe your Airbnb landlord, or the tourist office in Nice, can also provide
recommendations/references.
I tried to delve into Take A Chef, but it appears to be a clearinghouse for chefs
in many different locations. I.e., they charge a bundle for a reference and won't
take any responsibility if something goes awry. YMMV.
Thanks for the info. I have done more research regarding Take A Chef and I don't think we want to go that route so I'm still looking
Searching "private chef Cannes" provides multiple hits to individual chefs
as opposed to agencies. I figure that given the summer lifestyle on the
Riviera, there have to be quite a few chefs out there.
