We are going to take the Eastern France tour in June, 2027 and are thinking of taking a train to Nice after the tour ends. Any hotel recommendations would be appreciated.

Use the search bar above and put in Nice Hotels, or Nice Lodging, or Hotels in Nice. Filter for travel forum, then filter for 6 months or less, or one year or less. Scroll down through the threads. Lots of info already discussed on the forum. It takes bit of digging, but sometimes other interesting tidbits pop up as well!
I stayed at the Hotel Le Grimaldi by Happyculture for three nights in early May 2026.
I really liked the location. It was quiet and easy to walk or find public transportation to areas that I wanted to visit.
My room had a terrace with a view of a courtyard, that I found charming.
I believe it is in the RS guidebook but I don't have my copy with me.
There is an amazing Lebanese restaurant nearby where I ate twice during my stay! https://beyrouthcafe.com/
Enjoy!
I second the Hotel Grimaldi by Happy Culture but also through Le Roosevelt into the ring.
It may be helpful to add a target budget range and wish lists of amenities for the place (view, neighborhood, quiet/active, balcony, etc). Make sure you have AC, as we've been getting some hot periods in June.
I stayed long ago in the Grimaldi while on a house hunting trip (pre Happy Culture). It is well located. Nearby the two mentioned is the Windsor, which is also popular.
Doing a forum search for Nice hotels is a good tip that will turn up plenty of previous advice about that, but also a lot of references to nice hotels in other places. Fortunately there is no city in France named “Budget” as that would be even worse …
Good one, Slate!
I stayed at the Hotel Mercure Marche aux Fleurs, between the shore and the flower market in Vieux Nice, for several nights. The location couldn't be beat, and the staff were helpful. My room had a tiny balcony above the street, facing a beautiful old church. There are no elevators, and the lobby is several steps up from the street. Also, some of the rooms (including mine) have the bed in a loft over the main room, with a little spiral staircase to navigate to and from the bathroom. That made for a roomier living area, but you might want to have a clear understanding with the hotel about whether you want the bed on the same level as everything else. I know they have such rooms but you should be explicit if it matters to you.
We're local and have used Hotel Le Grimaldi by Happyculture ourselves and for guests and definitely recommend it, along with restaurants Apopino [Italian upscale] and Le Sejour [French], both adjacent on that block. We find restaurant Davia to be mobbed with only tourists, though atmospheric. Cafe De Nice is just off Rue Massena and offers atmosphere, value and quality with music weekly and generally available seating.
Hotel LG puts you dead center 8 minutes from prom, 3 from Airport Tram [Line 2, the one Underground on Victor Hugo], 15 from Gare for visiting Antibes, recommended highly, or anywhere coastal, and great for most tourist spots.
We also love Hotel Le Solea on Victor Hugo, in a slightly quieter residential stretch, more modern, with an awesome staff for guidance, as with Le Grimaldi.
We'd avoid hotels in the immediate Gare de Ville area. We find old town lovely to visit but very crowded, particularly in season, but a required experience for certain. If you can book Chez Acchiardo in old town in advance you'll experience superb, genuinely Niceois, century long historic dining in a gorgeous setting, just be prompt as it's always crowded. You are arriving in season, so anticipate some company on trains and the Prom, but it's lovely.
Enjoy!!
