Nice, France hotel early Sept

I’ve been looking at options. Looked at the guidebook. Lots of options. Trying to stay around $250 per night - less would be great but I’m realistic it might very well be more for what we want- a good clean, safe, relatively quiet place (don’t expect silence). No need for lots of bells and whistles. Mainly use just to sleep.

We are older but active so don’t mind a bit of walking.

I keep making the mistake of looking at bad reviews (usually use booking.com for info) and am starting to wonder if there are any places without problems. It’s got me spooked. So I’ve stopped scrolling and thought I’d ask here.

I stayed at the Hotel Le Grimaldi by Happyculture for three nights in early May.
I really liked the location. It was quiet and easy to walk everywhere or find public transportation.
My room had a terrace with no view, but I found it charming.
I believe it is in the RS guidebook but I don't have my copy with me.
There is an amazing Lebanese restaurant nearby where I ate twice during my stay! https://beyrouthcafe.com/
Enjoy!

I don't have the RS Guidebook handy, but there are some recommendations there. You might consider the Hotel Windsor or the HappyCulture hotels: Le Grimaldi, The Jay, the Deck and The Nap. These are a little more design forward, however. Some like the BW Roosevelt, Nice Garden Hotel or the Villa Victoria.

The Old Town can be noisy or being directly on the pedestrian zone (Rue Massena). Some do not like the area right around the train station and around Notre Dame (right on Jean Medecin is OK but a bit busier). It is most convenient to be within walking distance to the Prom and the Old Town (or the Port, if you are staying there). The area from the Promenade des Anglais, Blvd Gambetta, Blvd Victor Hugo to Rue Alberti to the Promenade du Paillon/Coulee Verte (Ave Felix Faure). Access closer to a tram stop can be desirable as well.
