Nice - Eze Accomodations

Does anyone have a recommendation for an accommodation close to the train in the Nice Eze area rather than in town? We would like a more budget-friendly (250 euro) accommodation for two elderly folks. We will not have a car, so walking distance to the train is essential. We will be visiting Eze and the Monaco area the first of October.

To get to Eze, you will need to take the bus.

I might suggest something near Place Garibaldi in Nice. Close to the L2 tram to get you there from the airport, close to the L1 tram to get you to the train station, close to the Bavastro bus stop for the bus to Eze. There appear to be a few reasonably priced hotels nearby. It is also located near Old Nice neighborhood.

There are two small linked communities called Èze. One down at sea level, the other climbing the side of a small mountain with the good stuff at the very top.

Èze-sur-Mer (literally Èze on the sea) is where the train is. A very small community. Both hamlets and Saint-Laurent-d'Èze which connects them (via that little bus which crawls up the cliff but feels like it is going MUCH faster) only have 2000 inhabitants between them.

Èze-Village, or as it used to be known, Èze Le Village has a bus stop for a bus from Nice right at the beginning of the very narrow cobblestone lane going up to the top. That is probably the part of the hamlet that you have read about or seen pictures of. It is beautiful, as is the adjacent to the hotel Jardin Exotique with all the cacti and succulents. Gorgeous. There is a similar garden in Monaco with a similar name - just as beautiful but without the fab sunsets over the Med.

Personally I have never stayed at Èze. Too pricey for me, and there isn't much at Èze-sur Mer.

I've frequently sayed in Monaco, Nice, and just once in Beaulieu-sur-Mer near Cap Ferrat. All nice places and planned ahead reasonably inexpensive.

I would not stay in Eze le village if you are depending on public transport and have any issues climbing cobblestone stairs. If you want a village instead of staying in Nice proper then you might look in Villefranche-sur-Mer (but down at the sea level, not up the hill as the train station is near the bottom) or in Beaulieu-sur-Mer (quieter, but the train station is centrally located). Prices do drop in October. In Nice, the area close to the tram stops at Place Massena and Jean Medecin are convenient to get around the city, with just one stop to get to the train station --- there are a number of hotels there.

when I said Beaulieu-sur-Mer just once, that wasn't because I didn't like it, I like it very much and would stay again, just the way it worked out. I'd agree with Gooster

Thank you for the awesome recommendations. We just didn’t want city but wanted a small town within walking distance to the train and a place to eat

Take a look at Hotel Select in Beaulieu sur Mer - lovely neighborhood and staff, and it's only a 3-4 min walk to the train station.

Thank you- I just checked and there is no availability. It is a bit intimidating booking a VRBO- never really know what you will get.
