Travel from Arles to Bayeux by train will require transfers in either Marseille or Nimes, and Paris. The Paris transfer will require a change of station, as well. Trip will take around 8 hours. Check the SNCF website for times and prices.

If planning to stay in Bayeau look for accommodation and tour to beaches asap, You may have trouble at this late date. We took train from Paris about two hours and fifteen minutes. There is a taxi stand at the Bayeau station and there were taxis waiting. We stayed at a great B&B 9/23 and my son stayed there six weeks ago. We all loved it, great location. Used HQCompany Tours for an eight hour tour of the beaches and it was super. Highly recommend it. Picked up and dropped off at the B&B. Son used them also this April. Try to go see the Tapestry it is only about two blocks away and it will be going away for two year restoration as of 8/31. It only takes about an hour or two but is very unique. Enjoy.

As an alternative, you might try flying from Marseille (MRS) to Caen (CFR) and renting a car to Bayeux. then you can return the car and take a train to Paris. Volotea is a low cost carrier (watch for upcharges) with a direct flight on the 23rd. I think people tend to prefer the fixed tours, but I always find a car helpful in normandy

sofun1,
Glad to see you are counting nights, but I hope you realize that you are losing a half to full day in traveling between locations. For example, from Bayeux to Paris with two nights in Paris means at most 1 1/2 days Paris. Versailles is pretty much a full day from Paris (about 1+ hours by train each way) and it is very big. Thus you will really only have a half day in Paris, the day you arrive from Bayeux. Ditto Arles and going to Les Beaux, which won't take a full day, but cuts into your sightseeing in the Arles area.
2 nights means one full day in a place, plus maybe a half day on arrival. It all depends on how long your moving from one place to another takes. With arriving the 18th and leaving the 27th, you have 9 days. Four locations in 9 days is pretty tight, even without allowing for day 1 jet lag, immigration/customs check on day 1, and accounting for intraFrance travel. You are going from the southeast to the northwest in a country about the size of California. I suggest doing more research on getting from place to place. And remember that travel time isn't just train or flight times, but checking out of your hotel, getting to the airport or train station, and on arrival getting to and checking in at your new hotel. Air travel will of course require being at the airport ahead of time for security checks. Trains don't have that requirement, so time saved there. Please take these thoughts into consideration when making your plans to avoid any disappointments. Best of luck to the four of you! Amusez-vous bien!
