Nice Airport to Marseille - questions about timing and Flixbus

We’ll be arriving on April 13th from Newark via Stockholm at 11:50 a.m. The two of us will be traveling with only carryon luggage and small personal bags, nothing checked. Having never been to this airport, I’m wondering how long one should allow for exiting the airport and locating the bus stops? Rome to Rio suggests the Flixbus as the most efficient means of getting between the airport and where we’re staying in Marseille (Place Général de Gaulle). Would those familiar with the area agree or have other suggestions? Thanks for any help you might offer!

There are many more daily trains going from Nice airport to Marseille than Flixbuses. I'd check that schedule on sncf.com, the French national train company's website.

Assuming you are on SAS, you arrive at Terminal 1. After you exit customs (walking out the "nothing to declare" door), go to your left out the door and walk about 200 ft and the Fixbus is parked there. If you want the train, you will also see trams there going one stop to Grand Arenas, then walk up the ramp to Nice Saint Augustin train station. There is a TER to Marseille Saint Charles at 1:33 pm.

From Saint Charles, take the Metro to Vieux Port and Place General de Gaulle is a block away.

Good to know about the train options. Merci! I’m still undecided which mode will serve us best, but am curious to know if we should expect additional crowds on our Palm Sunday arrival? Is there a typical length of time from landing to out the door for this particular airport at which we’ve never before arrived? (Reminder - 2 fit adults, no checked baggage or declarations.)

Could you not fly into Marseille from Stockholm?

Are you in the front, middle, or back of the plane. In my experience, that is the primary factor in how soon you get off the plane. What gate will you arrive at? Will you arrive at a jetway or will the plane park on the tarmac and a shuttle bus come out to get you? Who knows? You are also assuming the plane lands on time, and that is by no means a given.

Que sera, sera. I will spare you the Doris Day video.

It’s a fast airport to exit. I’ve landed there many times, the last being spring 2023.

My last (and only time) was 2 months ago, and yes, very easy. We landed at Terminal 1 and had a jetway. We had luggage to collect, then our 2 charter bus drivers were waiting for us right outside the customs exit, and directed us to the bus parking area, which is also where the Flixbus is indicated to be.

Take a look at google maps. Terminal 1 is by the highway and the Flixbus location is indicated on the map. You will see on the satellite view that it is a compact terminal. The trams are there as well. You could walk to Nice Saint Augustin station, but the tram is free to there and why walk when you can ride.

the train is easy and reliable, much easier than when I used to do it, and it was easy then, to use the frequent trains.
