Nice - 2 days in the city

Hello,
I am looking for any suggestions of must do activities in Nice for 2 days the end of April. We have an 7 person group ranging from age 84-13 (grandparents, children, grandchildren). We will not have a car for this part of the trip. We are staying on the Prom des Anglais.

Thank you!

For the grandparents, like me, I would recommend a visit to the Marche Aux Fleurs, the Flower Market, in Old Town Nice. It is open Tues-Sat 6 am to 5:30 pm, Sun 6 am to 1:30 pm. Monday is an Antique Market. Have lunch before 1:30 pm, because the street food vendors close then. There are still plenty of Bars and Cafes open if you want to sit and people watch. Then visit the Chagall Museum which is up a steep hill; take Uber or bus. It is not really beach weather in April, but the temperature is mild. It usually rains 50% of the time on average in April. So, take light weight rain coats. There are plenty of things to do within a short train/bus ride. Monaco is worth seeing for a Day Trip.

Hi Ljroberts73
Hello Fellow Mainer!
Two days isn't much, but here are some options:
Castle Hill, you can hike up, or take the tourist train. (Check to see if the tourist train is still running). Great views from the top.
Visit the cemetery up on the hill. It's quite interesting.
Museum of Contemporary Art
Roam around the Old Town, and visit the markets.
Take the bus up to Cimiez (about 20 minutes) and visit Roman Ruins and the Matisse Museum.
Chagall Museum
Visit Port area
Use an afternoon to do the ocean walk in Cap'Ferrat, visit the Villa and Gardens Ephrussi de Rothchild, take the bus up to Eze.
Visiting the Villa and Gardens are definitely wonderful, as is Eze.
Another option is to take the train to Antibes, which is about 25 minutes, but you have limited time, so you will have to decide what's most important.
Check opening days and times, and if reservations are needed. We have been to Nice 3 times, and loved it each time.

All great and helpful suggestions! The grandparents have been several times to Nice and the South of France. I know they are up for adventures with several of us who haven't spent time in Nice.

A few notes on the other suggestions:
The Cours Saleya market is open every day, but on Mondays turns into an antique/flea market.
There is an elevator to the top of Castle Hill/Le Chateau, next to the hotel Suisse.

MAMAC (modern art museum) is still closed for renovations. You can consider the Matisse Museum instead, use the same ticket to hit the roman ruins next door (warning, mostly just foundations).

Along the Cours Saleya, choose restaurants carefully as the tourist traps abound (indicated by their long multi-page menus in five languages). Le Safari is a long time favorite. In general, it is better to book ahead, especially with 7 people.

With just two days, your day trip options should be chosen carefully. A trip to Villefranche-sur-Mer and Cap Ferrat (Villa Ephrussi) can be handled easily or a trip up to Eze. Monaco is a checklist item for some (when combined with Monaco). I would not go to Antibes over the others unless there is a huge Picasso fan (the beach is the big draw). You can consider taxi/ubers to help make up time and make things easier on the grandparents (private vans and guide are also available). Places like Eze and Cap Ferrat do require some walking (as does Monaco/Monte Carlo, frankly).

Pending weather, I recommend having lunch at a beach restaurant. Le Galet has been dependable, and the Bains de Castel has the best view (other than le Plongeoir, at the Port)
