I'm staying near Vieux Nice for an upcoming trip and looking for suggestions for the best eats and restaurants. Thanks!

We traveled to the Old Town in Nice for dinner twice at Chat Noir Chat Blanc on a side street there. We had read about it in the New York Times Travel section and enjoyed the food and atmosphere. It is small so make a reservation.

We ate at Geppetto on our last night in France. Not in old town area but only a 10-15 min walk, or you could cab. Well worth it. Read the reviews on TripAdvisor. #6 in Nice. Not at all fancy or pretentious. Delicious.

I ate at and suggest these places close or in Vieux Nice:
Attimi - Italian resto on Place Massena
Le Safari and Vogilia - on Cours Saleya
Finnochio's - for gelato
a little further out (near the Monoprix) l'Ovale
most of these are in the Rick Steves Provence guidebook too.
