Next France Strike/Demonstration Day: June 6

The unions' joint body has issued a statement today that they will organize the next day of protests / demonstrations on Tuesday, June 6.

I don't know if they will cause problems for anyone coming for D-Day activities ! Maybe the organizations in Normandy will go easy on their participation ??!!

France wasn't liberated on the 6th, took a few days for the allies to make any headway.

Kim, can you point us to a page with these announcements? We're traveling later in June, so just want to be aware of what to expect during the trip. Will obviously keep an eye on our email for train changes, etc.

No, this was announced today by the intersyndicale, and then the press picked it up and relayed it.

Someone will eventually (and presumably already has) updated the C'est la Grève website, but I never look at that myself.

Normandie itself, outside Nantes and Rennes, has been pretty quiet thus far. Some demonstrations in places like Granville, Coutances. Saint-Lô, Cherbourg, and Caen, but overall fairly quiet, compared to Paris. I can't speak for eastern Normandie.

Thank you Kim!

I will be in France (Paris, Bayeux, and Rouen) from May 13-20th. So it looks like I will avoid any travel disruptions.

Good to know, I'll be in France by then, on 6 June. I wonder if the turn-out will be as massive as that event yesterday in Paris. In Normandie the city of Rennes has seen large protests and demonstrations.

May 1 is International Labor Day and, whoops, the VERY day the three of us were to fly Swiss Air out of CDG home. Composing myself, I visited the front desk where Valerie gave a little toss of the head- 'Pas de problem', she assured me. BUT she added the taxis will be double (68 euros). We left early for our flight and the taxi took us around the Arc de Triumph for fun- Pas de problem! Nor did we see trash burning or face a demonstration. La vie est belle.
