Does anyone know of a reliable car service or tour bus service that we can contact to get us from Bayeux to Paris next week? We need to be on the road by 8:30 am. We currently have train tickets but we don’t know is the trains will be running so we need a back up plan. I check into a one way car rental but there is no availability.

You might check with your hotel if staying in Bayeux. You can also to to tripadvisor.com and ask on the Bayeux forum. Lots of local posters can likely help you. Good luck.

There is an app called Blah Blah Car (not certain of the spelling?). It was suggested by French friends. It's a shared ride app. In return for paying part of the costs (gas/tolls), you ride with someone going that way. I tried to use it from Amboise to Chartre a couple years ago but couldn't locate the app with my smart phone (maybe because I have an American phone?) so I haven't yet used it.
Don't worry too much about train service. Just keep an eye on the latest strike news when you are there. The news is very detailed and people in France are used to working around strikes to get where they're going. In the event of a strike, some (I'd say most) trains will still be moving on schedule and some will be canceled. If your train is canceled you can take another train.
The main thing that will help when strikes are happening is some room for flexibility in your schedule. The biggest problem I had was trying to use customer service at the station. The room was packed. My question was simple but I needed to ask so had to wait.
