We are accompanying our daughter to France in June; we will fly into Paris and her job is in Toulouse. We have a week to look around France, and would appreciate any and all ideas about things to see and do. We will arrive on a Wednesday and she needs to be in Toulouse on the weekend. We enjoy cities but also smaller towns. Thanks for offering your advice!
I'm confused about the precise timing. You say "a week", but then you mention arriving on Wednesday and your daughter's need to be in Toulouse on the weekend. Given the sleep-deprivation/jet lag that is likely to affect you all, at least to some degree, on Wednesday, you have only three days before your daughter has to be in Toulouse. Do you plan to accompany her to Toulouse? What day do you and your spouse leave France? Are you seeking suggestions for two different periods--stuff to see with your daughter on those first three days, then stuff for the two of you for the rest of the trip?
Are you flying home from Paris?
Do you plan to rent a car, or will you be taking the train?
Toulouse itself is a very pretty city--red brick, so different from most other places in France. It can keep you busy for more than a day. Albi is also extremely interesting, and it's easily accessible from Toulouse.
Especially if your trip is in late June, be aware that the Toulouse/Albi area can be very, very hot in the summer.
