Need help with type of Navigo pass to purchase

I have been seeing much conflicting information about the new Paris Metro tickets/passes available for 2025 and could use some guidance.

We will be in Paris in a week, arriving on a Monday at CDG and leaving on Friday also from CDG. The only other time we will be using an RER train will be to go to Versailles, otherwise I assume we will just take the Metro 2 or 3 times a day and possibly the Funicular at Montmartre. I was thinking of buying the Navigo Decouverte pass but then have seen posted online conflicting information about that pass still being available. Is that still available? Is there a better option for this type of itinerary? At the moment, I don't plan on having a pass on my phone and prefer the plastic card. If Decouverte is still available, how does the whole photo thing work? Do we bring photos from home or take them at the metro? Thanks for your help!

Yes the Navigo Decouverte card is still available and you can purchase the 7 day, Zone 1-5, Mon-Sun option. It will cover you for your CDG and Versailles trips. It also covers the bus if you want a break from the Metro. Someone else will have to comment on its use on the Funicular as I haven’t used that,

The https://parisbytrain.com/paris-train-metro-week-pass-navigo-decouverte/ website I find to be the best source to guide folks on how to buy and use the card. You can bring the correct sized photo from home and buy the ND at CDG when you arrive. There may be a bit of a lineup so having the photos already done saves a step.

Like you I prefer using a transit card rather than my phone and on other travel groups, I have read of folks having trouble with their phone passes in Paris.

the navigo decouverte is absolutley what you want -- it will cover any public transport in the ile de france including buses, trams, funiculars, RERs and metros. It is convenient and you don't run the risk of having the wrong ticket (buses and trains take different tickets. This is perfect for your trip -- the two trips to and from CDG will come close to paying for it.

Last summer I spent 3 weeks in Paris for the Olympics. I created a Navigo Découverte on my IPhone and loaded a monthly pass for July and one for August on it. It was very easy to set up the virtual Navigo Decouverte, no need to have an actual passport photo, I simply uploaded a selfie.
With matches to visit every day all over Paris and surrounding area, I used my virtual Navigo extensively and on all different form of transportation from metro to busses to RER to trams, it worked flawless every single time. I had my phone on one of these lanyard type things, that I wore cross body. Despite the crowds, I had no issue with theft or anything.

The Navigo weekly pass is an electronic fare, covers all modes of public transportation, includes zones 1-5, and costs 31.60€. It is available for any Monday through Sunday period only and only sold through Thursday of the current week. Arriving on Monday will be the perfect time to use the pass.

The pass may be loaded onto:

  • The Navigo Découverte card (5€), which is nontransferable, and holds only passes. The card requires the bearer's name and photo.
  • Any configured smartphone using either the Ile de France Mobilités app or the Bonjour RATP app.
  • Each user must have his own app or card.

I actually have an additional question to tag on to this...we arrive CDG on Tuesday and leave the following Wednesday. We also intend to do Paris, & Versailles and possibly a day trip to Chartres and/or Giverny. Are the day trips covered by the Navigo pass? Does it make sense to pay separately for travel on RER on Tuesday from CDG to Paris and then start the Navigo on Wednesday so I have week?
