I'm not understanding the Louvre map and I'm trying to come up with the best path for me to take to see the artwork that I'm eager to see. The Code of Hammurabi, The Venus de Milo, The Dying and Rebellious Slaves, Psyche and Cupid, The Winged Victory of Samothrace, The Mona Lisa, The Wedding Feast at Cana, The Coronation of Napoleon, The Death of Marat, Liberty Leading the People and The Raft of the Madusa. Hammurabi is on the ground floor of Richelieu. The Venus is on the ground floor of Sully and the rest are in Denon. I'm visiting next Friday April 18 at 12:30. Would you recommend seeing Hammurabi then Venus then everything in Denon starting with the Slaves on the ground floor before moving up the staircase to see the Winged Victory and then the rest on the first floor? Where are all the connecting passages from wing to wing? Only on ground floor? Or are their connections on each floor of each wing? I hear that its less busy on a Friday morning. How busy on Friday afternoons? We'll probably be there for 2-3 hours. I hear its best to enter through the Carousel entrance. We pre bought our tickets and audio guides online. Would you agree?
I think you have a good plan. Two of the wings are joined, but not the 3rd. There’s an information desk where you can ask about the connected wings, or you can just backtrack to the Pyramid reception area and go into your next wing.
Check-out www.pariswalks.com’s guided tour of the Louvre. I’ve taken many walking tours with them and have enjoyed them all. One of the best was the tour of the Louvre. Besides being extremely knowledgeable about art history, the guide is very familiar with the layout of the museum and knows how to reach all the of famous art works and statues that you want to see. You’ll appreciate your surroundings without getting lost and having to continually consult your map. I highly recommend this tour.
