I've just started looking for a place for myself and my college-age granddaughter for 6 nights in Paris. At this point I'm open to suggestions, although Ive been browsing Airbnb and found some seemingly nice places. I'm not sure about exact location but want to be either in the 6th arrondissement or nearby. Has anyone recently stayed in a place they've LOVED? My budget is preferably under $220 a night.
I found one interesting apartment through Airbnb that is located a block from the Rue du Bac Metro stop, across from the Musee Maillol. I don't know how this would be as an area for a tourist and wonder if perhaps anyone on the boards is familiar with this area.
Check out Escalea apartments. We stayed in a very nice apt through them in the 5th on St Germain last fall. I found the apt on Homeaway but was linked to Escalea to book.
here is a link to the ones they offer in the 6th- there are 3 for at or under 220euro/night
we stayed in this one, very nice but too big for your needs

That's a very nice area, near the Musee d'Orsay, too. It's good for a tourist.
We stayed in a fantastic studio apartment one block from the Seine, with a view of Notre Dame from our window. The website is Bestparislodge.com. Thierry is very easy to deal with and it was reasonably priced.
Vacation in Paris is also a reliable agency for apartments. We have had great luck with Perfectly Paris but they specialize in Montmartre which is probably not where you want to be in a first visit although it is a charming area -- just a bit out of the center.
I'm sure that Amy meant to say parisbestlodge.com. You don't say when you are traveling but good agencies like PBL will "sell out" fast, in many cases 6-12 months ahead.
If you do go through AirBnB or similar, the need for due diligence on your part increases greatly. Find a unit that has many strong credible reviews, and plenty of good photos. Have some correspondence with the owner and get a feel for them. I do like the AirBnB system in general, though have not used it in Europe.
Also Cross-pollinate.com is a great source for lodging in Paris. They have photos and reviews. We stayed in a different arrondissement than you are looking but there is plenty to choose from and have never been disappointed. Prices are great.
I found what appears to be a great place, pretty much in the middle of St. Germain. I used Airbnb and was pleasantly pleased at how easy the whole process was. Now of course I haven't been there yet, but so far so good. The host has been very responsive to my questions and accommodating to my needs.
I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who replied to my questions here on the forum!
We have stayed here for the past 9 or 10 years. Great studio for two. Has everything you will need.
