Hi, we are arriving in Paris CDG at 1240 and need to catch a train to Strasbourg. We would prefer to catch a train from the airport if possible to save time, rather than having to go to Gare de Nord. Any ideas?
Yes, take a look at the train schedule at www.capitainetrain.com. You don't say the date you are traveling, but there is usually a train at around 2:45 PM and another at around 5:00 PM. Conventional wisdom is to allow 3 hours between scheduled arrival and the departure time of the train. Currently, these two trains require a change at Marne-la-Vallee-Chessy to get to Strasbourg. There are trains that go directly to Strasbourg from CDG but the current schedule does not align with your arrival time. You can also check train schedules at www.bahn.de/en and then go to CapitaineTrain to make your purchase.
Why don't you try to extend your plane ticket to Strasbourg. If you are flying in on Air France or a code share, they may either put you on a designated train or a regional flight.
Thank you for the replies. Sorry that I didn't mention that I was travelling in the middle of June. Schedules aren't available for that month yet.
Follow JHK's advice. Some people get confused arriving at Gare du Nord on the RER and finding their train. Dealing with a station that large and the time it takes is eliminated by catching the train at the airport changing at Marne-la-Vallee-Chessy to get to Strasbourg. Very easy change!
They would be particularly confused if they looked for a train to Strasbourg at Gare du Nord. It leaves from Gare de l'Est, a five minute walk away from Gare du Nord, if you know where you're going. Agree that the train from CDG is the simplest--but I'd still check to see if there isn't a ticket extension to Strasbourg that could be added onto your original plane ticket.
