Need budget hotel idea for Paris is August

We are flying into Paris on our way to see family in Germany. We are a family of 5, 2 adults and 3 teenagers. We need a recommendation for a budget hotel for 2 nights. Preferably around $100 per night and close to the sights. Any suggestions?

That is not a very doable budget. Ninety one euro for a family room close to the sights could be a real challenge. Remember it is Paris and August. Have you tried Trip Advisor or Hotel.com with that limit? It is not realistic.

That is indeed very tight, especially for so many people. When I am doing super-budget travel, I often find lodging by pulling up TripAdvisor. You would then pull up Paris hotels. Sort by price from lowest to highest. Start scanning the low-price listings until you see one that rates reasonably high but is in your price range. Read the reviews...you'll notice patterns of complaints/compliments that are helpful.

Just be aware that, given your group size, the prices you see on TripAdvisor will go up when you try to actually book a room as family rooms are typically more expensive.

Try booking.com to be able to sort by size and price quickly.

I know that this sounds harsh but you need to increase your budget unless you want to stay in a dump hotel in an unattractive part of town. The hostels that I know of are about $150 per night. Is this $100 per room per night or $100 for a room for five or two rooms per night? If you can increase your budget to around $175, I suggest looking at Hotel Marignan in the 5th arrondissement or Hotel Lux Picpus in the 12th or Hotel des Artes Bastille. These hotels may not have air conditioning. Good luck.

Lynn,

We recently stayed at Hotel Diana (we paid €126/night for a twin room), centrally located near La Sorbonne University.
The hotel is clean, comfortable, with A/C & elevator. There are Metro & bus stops nearby.

August is almost here & I'd think most decent hotels are probably all booked by now, but give them a try.

Please send me a PM if you want suggestions on places to eat on a budget, near this hotel.

I struggle to imagine in what world class city one would find a decent room for five adults for that price!!! ( yes teens are counted as adults) .
It's almost impossible to find rooms for five anyways so you will need a double and a triple room.

I stay in budget hotels, but I can't think of one in central Paris in that price range. Allow at least 100 euros per room , and that is very cheap for a triple.Even a hostel will cost more than 100 euros per night!

Perhaps look at vrbo

Ps Hotel St Pierre near the Sorbonne on Rue Ecoles de Medicine ,
is cheapest I have stayed at, great location and clean with good AC.

I have also stayed at Hotel Diana as suggested , great hotel but over your budget

Hotel Diana is an excellent suggestion but the budget will have to be around 260 euros (cheapest triple at 182 euros per night + cheapest double at 85.5 euros) for the two rooms that will be needed. They are closing this August from the 6th to the 27th for renovations.

If your kids are 12 years or younger, they can stay for free in Mercure hotels in Paris. Also get free breakfast and a welcome gift.
Ibis, Mercure and Accor hotels are budget and family-friendly hotels. Many have promotions in the month of August.

You won't find anything "near the sights" for that price, but if you look for the hotels I mentioned in Postal Codes 75012, 75014, 75015, the prices will be much cheaper and transportation by Metro is cheap and convenient.
