Dear Experts,
I am doing a day trip from Paris to Tours to see Chateau Chambord and Chenonceau. We are taking the train from Paris to Tours and then taking a van trip with Tour Evasion at 1:00 to see the above two chateaus. I am wondering if Tours is a fun town to explore for a few hours? My plan was to arrive around 10:00 am in Tours, see the town and eat lunch prior to the van tour. Does anyone have suggestions for lunch or if there are good sights in town? The guide books are a bit vague on Tours. If Tours is not worth the time we could do an all day van tour and see four chateaus. I just thought four sounded like a lot!!! I know many of you will say the area deserves days, but we don't have days there and I would love to get a taste of the area. Thanks for any tips. Also if we take the train to Tours and we have to stop at the little suburban train station and transfer, is that a big deal?
Thanks for any help.
Hi,
I can't help you as I am a newbie not an expert :)
I am interested in doing the same thing. Can I ask what tour you are looking at? I found a tour through Viator but read many negative reviews. Have you checked into renting a car and doing the touring on your own?
My tour I have booked is through Tour Evasion, if you google that the company comes up. I found the name in a previous post. They were very prompt in their response, and get good reviews on trip advisor. It is a small mini van tour and they have lots of options. A car is out for us, my husband refuses to drive in Europe, he says too stressful, too hard to park, and too many problems with rental car companies over there. Hope this helps, Maybe an expert on the area will chime in.
