Need advice - London-Paris itinerary

We are planning a 14 day trip flying into London and out of Paris. 13 nights. Tentative itinerary:
5 nights London
3 nights Normandy OR Burgundy
5 nights Paris
Departure from Paris

We prefer longer stays which allows for less go-go-go every day and a little more down time, thus the 5 nights in each London and Paris. Thoughts on logistics of either Normandy or Burgundy in between big cities? Better to go to Paris straight from London and do Burgundy at the end of trip? Other ideas for the 3 extra nights?

All input welcome! TIA!

You should decide first if you are going to Burgundy or Normandy based on your own interests as they are about the same logistically coming from London. Either way I would end the trip with 5 nights in Paris

have never been to Burgundy but loved Normandy. Stayed over night in Bayaeux - lovely town with enough to see , good base for tours and then train to Paris. Would make plans soon though

Early June might be crowded in Normandy - I'm sure there will be some ceremonies marking the anniversary of D-Day. But I spent five nights in Bayeux and never ran out of things to see and do. We took the Eurostar from London to Paris, taxi from one train station to another in Paris, then a train to Bayeux.

I prefer ending my trip in the city I'll be flying home from in order to have a short trip to the airport. So to me London-Normandy/Burgundy-Paris sounds less worrisome.

Thank you all. We are leaning toward Normandy--it's the last 2 weeks of the month, so we will not be there for any D-Day ceremonies/commemorations.

Normandy is difficult to get to from London without passing through Paris - there are few international airports in the region so your main options are Eurostar to Paris followed by a train to Normandy, or a ferry from Portsmouth, Southampton or Poole to the Normandy coast, which is a lengthy trip and not fun in rough weather.

Might I suggest that a very early planning step might be to visit trainline. com and investigate trains from Paris to the various town in your reason of interest. The further west you travel the less well served the are becomes in regard to public transportation. You may find you have to essentially build your plans to accommodate some train times.
