Need a Pass Sanitaire to Ride in a Taxi?

Hi everybody,

My wife and I are traveling to Paris for the first time in February (on our firsr Rick Steves tour!). I realize that we need to get a Passe Sanitaire as soon as possible after we land, but we’re arriving in the middle of the day—which I assume is very crowded—and for Covid reasons we’d rather not wait in line at one of DGA’s pharmacies for a long time. Is it possible to get a taxi to our hotel first, and then get a Passe Sanitaire at a less crowded pharmacy in our hotel’s neighborhood?

Thanks in advance for your help!

A Pass Sanitaire is not needed for a taxi or the hotel. Some have reported their hotels asked for the Pass to be able to eat in the breakfast room. If that happens just tell them you’ll show them later.

You're very welcome! I’m guessing you are taking a Best of Paris tour? That is an awesome week. The only downside is it made me fall in love with Paris and now I can’t stay away, lol!!

You didn’t ask, but at the airport follow the signs to the taxi rank line. Ignore anyone who comes up to you and asks if you want a ride. Have your full hotel address written out on an index card to show the driver. It’s a fixed rate into town depending on which side of the river. If you tell us which hotel we can tell you the amount. If you want to pay by CC hold it up for the driver to see as he is loading your luggage and just say “OK?”.
