Navigo Weekly Pass to travel from CDG into Paris

Hello, we are traveling in early October. Will the Navigo Weekly Pass cover the train cost from CDG into Paris (RER).

I was planning on downloading the app on day of our trip (Friday) so that we don't have to deal with ticket machines at CDG.

Any help is appreciated.

Yes, the Navigo Decouverte weekly pass covers the train (RER) from CDG to Paris.
You can buy the pass at CDG.
Note that you’ll need a small color photo for the pass.

You’ll find all the information you need about the Navigo Decouverte pass here:
Paris by Train
Please note that this pass is valid Monday through Sunday, so hopefully it will work for your visit.

Enjoy your time in beautiful PAris!

You can also set up a virtual Navigo Decouverte on your phone (for free) and purchase the Navigo Weekly on your phone. You simply enter your name and upload a photo and you’re good to go. That way you don’t have to worry about bringing a passport size photo with you. During my 3 week stay in Paris during the Olympics I used a transport pass on my IPhone and it worked flawlessly everywhere and every time.

Technically the ND (Navigo Decouverte) takes you nowhere. The ND, like the Navigo Easy, is just a blank card. You need to buy and load a product on it before you can use it to travel.
Single tickets, booklets of 10 single tickets and day passes can be loaded on a Navigo Easy, which doesn’t require a photo.
If you want a Week or Month pass, you’ll need to buy a Navigo Decouverte or set up a virtual one for free. This ND must contain a photo and your personal information. I found it very easy to set up a virtual ND in the IDF Mobilités app and load a Month pass on it.

I don’t think you can buy the weekly pass on Friday. I think the last day they sell the past for the current week is Thursday. So if you download the app and buy the pass on Friday, it will be for the next week and cannot be used that day.

The weekly pass in Paris is not seven days based on when you buy it. They start on Monday and they end on Sunday.

That’s a very good and useful addition by Carol. The week pass on the Navigo always starts on Monday. If you buy it on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, it’s good for travel in that current week. Which means you can use it up to and including the Sunday of that current week.
If you buy it on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, it’s validity will start on the Monday of the new week.

So let’s assume you arrive in Paris on Friday October 4 and you want to use the Navigo Weekly pass for Friday October 4, Saturday October 5 and Sunday October 6, you can purchase it starting Friday September 27 up to and including Thursday October 3.
Which means that the only way to purchase it, is before you arrive in Paris. This means that you must load it on a virtual Navigo Decouverte on your phone or smart watch.
I purchased a pass on a virtual Navigo Decouverte before I arrived in Paris and I found the process to be easy. Download the IDF Mobilités app, click on “purchase” and it will all explain itself.

The ND takes you anywhere in the Ile de France

That really depends upon what fare is loaded. Not all fares automatically guarantee zone 1-5 coverage. To wit: the Navigo jour or day pass is sold with a wide choice of zone coverage, from zone 1-2 to zone 4-5, and everything in between.

yeah yeah yeah. The OP asks about the weekly pass on the ND -- so they are not referring to the blank card so the tendentious warnings are not needed.

ALL weekly or monthly passes which include Paris include all 5 zones. Yes, you could buy a pass that only includes outer zones for slightly less, but I'm guessing the OP planning to go to Paris and so they will have all 5 zones.

HOWEVER as Carol notes the OP cannot do what s/he proposes because this week's ND Semaine cannot be loaded on Friday. A pass bought Friday will start on Monday. They can however put a 5 zone day pass on the card. But whether this is cost effective will depend on how much travel they do that day. It is rarely a good idea. They probably want to just buy tickets into the city on a machine for about 12 euro and have a Navigo Easy card to load metro/bus tickets (t+ tickets) for the weekend travel in Paris.

Someone can advise whether they could load the ND Semaine on line on their phone before coming to Paris.

“ Someone can advise whether they could load the ND Semaine on line on their phone before coming to Paris.”

That’s what I did. I already wrote about how I did that in my post in this thread.
