Navigo Passes Questions

Hello,
I am traveling with my 13 year old daughter to Paris next month (sat March 27 - Fri April 3). We land in CDG airport, but leave Friday via train to Annecy.

I am trying to figure out what pass we need for public transportation and am running into conflicting information. She does not have a smartphone so we would need physical cards. On one website it says the Paris Navigo Decouverte card (5 euro) is a multi-use transit card open to everyone (requires a photo ID which I planned to bring) and allows travel to all Zones 1-5 and Versailles for $32.40 Euro/week Mon-Fri. This is what we would need as we are staying in a Neuilly sur seine (just outside of Paris's ). In other places, I read it is only for French citizens. We land on a Saturday at 830pm and I planned to uber or taxi to our Airbnb. Sunday we would likely need a single use (x2) or day pass each. and then Mon-Friday the week pass. Would they request a bill or peice of mail to prove residency if we purchase the Decouverte card? Is there something else that is reasonably priced for non residents? Thank you!

You can use the Navigo Decouverte. The Navigo is a product for residents, but the Navigo Decouverte is for use by tourists.

Look for a kiosk that says VENTE above it. You’ll purchase the pass (€5 ea) at the kiosk, which all have English options, and will be furnished a receipt. Take the receipt to the staffed window and you’ll be given the pass. If they’re not busy, they might put it together for you, but, if not, it’s simple to do. You affix the picture, print your name on it, and assemble it. You then load it with the weekly pass, which will start at midnight on Sunday night and last until midnight of the following Sunday.

Get a Navigo Easy card for use on Sat and Sun. Load as many single rides as you think you’ll need for the two days. You both need your own cards which cost €2 each.

brooke, the Navigo Decouverte Card requires a photo, not a photo ID. If you have photos, just cut them to the required size 25x30 mm or approx. 1x1¼".

Depending on the station, there may be a manned ticket counter to assist you. And as HappyToBeHere said, be sure to print your name on the card before you assemble it

And save your card after this trip for future trips. The Navigo Decouverte can be reloaded with passes for up to 10 years.

If you take a taxi from CDG, Neuilly is not in Paris and the fixed fares will not apply.

The Navigo Découverte card is sold to anyone with 5€ (just not at the airports). This card is nontransferable and requires the bearer's printed name and photo before use. You can load any pass onto a Navigo Découverte card, a day pass at 12.30€ for Sunday and the Mon - Sunday pass at 32.40€. You should be able to load these both at the same time.

As Tocard says, you can add a day pass on to a Navigo Decouverte, but you’d need to take at least four metro rides to make it a good value…and I’ve never taken the metro four times in one day. I’m a walker. But if you’d rather only have one item, there’s certainly nothing wrong with using the ND to load a daily pass on Sat and Sun and then the weekly pass as well.
