Navigo pass - which one

I'm visiting Paris from the 28th of August to the 2nd of September, which will coincide with the Paralympics. I know certain Metro and RER passes are not available for that time, like the Paris Visite pass? Given that, what is my best option for unlimited travel in Zones 1 and 2, which is where I will be for the most part? (except for a one day trip to Reims)

Should I get the Navigo weekly pass or the 7 day pass? Do I understand correctly that the weekly pass is always Mon to Sun, which won't work for me since I arrive on a Wednesday but the 7 day Paris 2024 pass is for 7 days, starting any day I arrive? Also, will the Paris 2024 Navigo pass also cover my ride from CDG to St Lazare station, which is near where my hotel is?

I would like to purchase the pass before I arrive, but I am not sure if I am picking the wrong one.

Thanks very much for your advice.

I don't believe you can get the Navigo weekly pass during the Olympics period, I think you have to buy passes sold specifically for this period. My understanding that the monthly pass is still available but that all shorter passes -- week or day or whatever require you to use the specific Olympic travel products.

Thank you! What you said seems to align with what I've understood so far too. I wanted to get clarity on --

-- Are the Paris 2024 passes the only option during the Olympics and Paralympics? (which is what you seem to think, as well)
-- Do they have passes that are only for Zone 1-2 or do I have to do the Zone 1-5 Paris 2024 pass, regardless of whether I need Zone 1-5?
-- Is the Ile de France Mobilites app the best place to buy the pass? I will prefer a phone app pass over a paper pass, so I am hoping the app will allow that?
-- I see some chatter online about how it works on Android but not on the iPhone? Anyone have experience with that?
-- Will the Paris 2024 Navigo pass also cover my ride from CDG to St Lazare station, which is near where my hotel is?

The PRICES are the only thing available during this period, it all depends on which type of ticket you want to utilize and buy.

They only have the 5 zone passes

Iphone capabilities have only just come available (in May I believe) and still give you some problems until you are on the ground in France and can purchase then with ease from the app

Yes the all zone ticket will cover your CDG to hotel ride

Hi Bostonfan, answers to your questions in your second message: —

  • Are the Paris 2024 passes the only option during the Olympics and Paralympics? (which is what you seem to think, as well)

The monthly pass is still available, but that's not relevant to you.
The Navigo Jour and the Navigo Semaine are not available during your time frame.
You can also still buy individual t+ tickets, and individual point-to-point tickets.

-- Do they have passes that are only for Zone 1-2 or do I have to do the Zone 1-5 Paris 2024 pass, regardless of whether I need Zone 1-5?

No, they only have one pass, the one that is for all five zones.

-- Is the Ile de France Mobilites app the best place to buy the pass? I will prefer a phone app pass over a paper pass, so I am hoping the app will allow that?

Probably so. If you have an iPhone with the latest iOS system you can buy tickets / passes and store them on your iPhone .

-- I see some chatter online about how it works on Android but not on the iPhone? Anyone have experience with that?

That is no longer true. Finally in May, they came to agreement with Apple, and now you can buy tickets and passes on your iPhone.

-- Will the Paris 2024 Navigo pass also cover my ride from CDG to St Lazare station, which is near where my hotel is?

Yes. The Paris 2024 pass also includes transit to and from the airports.

Now, here's another thing you can think about :

You can buy individual tickets now for use when you are there. If you do this, you have to buy them before the prices go up on July 20.
— By going to the IDF Mobilites app, making an account.
— You can buy up to 30 individual t+ tickets.
— You can however *not * buy your origin-destination ticket for CDG to Gare St Lazare.

Then you can stock these tickets on your phone and use them when you are here.

****I have no idea if 30 tickets is enough for you, or whether this is a better deal financially. I am just telling you it is possible.

(I also don't know if you plan to go to venues outside of Paris which are included in the Paris 2024 passe, but might require an origin-destination ticket if you are just using regular tickets.)

The advantage of the Paris 2024 passe is that you pay (for you) the 70€ for the seven-day pass, and then you have dealt with it all.

what is my best option for unlimited travel in Zones 1 and 2,

Either the Passe Paris 2024 (valid zone 1-5) at 16€/day (or 30€ for a 2 day pass) or individual tickets t+, 4€ each.

Should I get the Navigo weekly pass or the 7 day pass?

The Navigo daily or weekly passes are not available from July 20 through 8 September.

I would like to purchase the pass before I arrive,

The Passe Paris 2024 may be purchased in advance:

Are the Paris 2024 passes the only option during the Olympics and Paralympics?

Monthly passes are available at 86.40€.

— By going to the IDF Mobilites app, making an account.
— You can buy up to 30 individual t+ tickets.
— You can also buy your origin-destination ticket for CDG to Gare St Lazare.

Yes, you can purchase paper or electronic tickets t+ now at 2.15€ and use them during the period July 20 to 8 September.
Just to clarify: origin-destination tickets for CDG to Gare St Lazare are sold in paper format only. You may not purchase or use origin-destination tickets on an app.

Kim and Tocard,

A seriously BIG thank you to both of you for patiently answering all my questions in so much detail! This has been SO SO helpful!

Based on all the information you have provided, I am purchasing the Passe Paris 2024 7 day for 70 euros. I expect to use the Metro quite a bit to get around in Zone 1-2 and the convenience of having one pass that covers everything including the CDG to St Lazare portion is too good to say no to! Plus I love that I can just have the pass on my phone (Apple wallet).

Thank you very much for your advice!
