Hi, I'm heading to Paris with 13 others and I'm confused about the Navigo Pass. What I do understand is that I can purchase the pass for €5 and top it up with travel credit for the 5 zones of Paris. But, I'm not sure about WHEN it's possible to use. We arrive at CDG on Thursday morning and depart on Sunday evening... so, is it possible to purchase the Navigo on that Thursday and use it straight away until the Sunday? Thanks in advance!
valid only from Monday at 00:00 to Sunday 23:59:59 per 22.80euro.

Thank you... I've read up on it SO much. But, what I want to know is, can I buy it on a Thursday to use on that Thursday until Sunday?
Yes, you can still buy it on Thursday for the remainder of the week. The question is will you get your money's worth from it in that short a time.
Thanks Sam... I was hoping I could buy it Thursday and use for just 4 days (the round trip from CDG to Paris 1 alone would cost as much and we intend to stay in zone 3 and visit Disneyland). Our alternative would be to buy the Paris Visite at €65.80 each, so that would be a huge saving for us to use the Navigo.
Parisbytrain.com is a good resource.
Thursday is the last day you can buy it for that week. I was in Paris for a month last June, for my last 3-4 days i bought that week’s - even though i could only use it for a few days, it was well worth it to me as i use the bus and mêtro a lot in one day, and a Navigo is so much easier than tickets.
But, Paris has done away with tickets starting last month (not sure exact time frame) and now you get a card (like a Navigo) and just keep adding credit to it.
I don’t know much about it yet, need to read up.
I would buy the Navigo, even though you'll only use it from the Thursday to the Sunday midnight.
It sounds as if you'll get your money's worth just getting out of the airport, and getting to and from Disneyland in that time .
It's so easy, and you can keep it and reactivate it on your next trip to Paris; for a few years after, I believe.
I reused mine two years in a row.
Bring your tiny photos with you, so you don't have to waste time finding either a photo booth or a live clerk at a desk to take your photo.
You will have 13 people to get organized, so the more you do in advance, the better!
You buy the pass kit initially, and then it comes with a set amount loaded on.
You don't top it up for the following week until after it expires for that week, on the midnight of the Sunday.
I just topped up for the next week at my first use on a Monday morning.
I believe last time I was there the total for a week was ? E26?, and that gives you unlimited use for the RER, the Metro and the buses.
A bargain compared to other countries, especially where I live!
Here's a helpful website.

Thanks Susan & SJ! This is good news indeed. We’re going to save so much by using Navigo that we can now plan other excursions we thought we’d miss out on! You’ve been very helpful 😊
Have a great trip Odie!

You can add next week’s to your pass anytime starting the Friday before it expires (midnight on Sunday). I don’t wait until it expires.
I’ve been using the same Navigo card since 2010. I think this year i’ll need a new one, i think they’re only good for 8 yrs.
Coming soon: The Navigo Easy Pass. The Metro is catching up to the 21st Century with an electronic card, the equivalent of the carnet individual tickets.

Thanks Southam, that’s the one i mentioned. Will be much more convenient than single-use paper tickets.
Your linked article says it will start in April this year.
Merci mille fois à tous!
Happy to hear about the new EasyPass.
The little tickets were good, but easy to mix up old ones with new ones.
