Navigo jour vs RER Paris, RT

What is the current cost of The navigo jour card Which includes CDG-Paris? Is it more cost-effective to get that card for a round-trip CDG-Paris including travel within Paris or to purchase individual RER Tickets CDG – Paris R/T And then Load our Navigo easy card With enough for 4-5 trips within Paris that day? The websites I have checked might be too old as they’re showing various prices.

We expect to be in Paris for one day, probably October 9, 2024. We will be staying at an airport hotel the night before and after which leaves us with that one day which we would like to spend in Paris. I just read that the price for Metro tickets will go up during the Olympics. I'm not seeing anything on whether or not they are expected to come back down afterwards. Any opinions on this? Any advice?

And thanks Tocard. I just checked the site which is actually quite informative. Still trying to figure it out but this is certainly helpful.

The métro does not go to CDG, the ticket t+ will not be useful to you. I might suggest zone 1-5 day pass, loaded onto a Navigo card (Easy or Découverte) costing 20.60€. With this pass, you can take the RER B into Paris and the bus, funicular, tramway, or métro as much as you like. The pass ends at midnight.

Yes, I was thinking of the day pass for zone five which I understand includes CDG. I imagine this is fairly simple to download as I already have a Navigo easy card. Any idea what the price of a R/T RER ticket is? What about About single Metro tickets or a carnet of 10? I'm sure they've gone up since the last time I was in Paris, two years ago .I see Metro prices going up for the Olympics but I could not see where the go back down afterwards and what the price might be. Just trying to figure this out in advance. Again, thanks for all your help.
Update: I just read Kim's response to another post giving the normal price of the carnet Metro tickets at €17.35, so thanks, Kim. I'm still not sure what the "normal" price for the RER from CDG to Paris is but hopefully I'll find out.

Between now and 8 September, there are fares available for public transportation tickets (single ride):

  • Tickets t+ - 4€
  • Ticket d'accès à bord - 5€ (cash paid to ride a city bus)
  • Ticket MTA (Métro Train Aéroport) - 11.80€ CDG or 10.30€ ORY
  • Tickets origine-destination (RER or Transilien train) - 6€
  • Tickets for either the Roissybus or Orlybus - 16€

These are the fares for Passe Paris 2024, includes zones 1-5 (sales for other passes are suspended)

  • 1 day - 16€
  • 2 day - 30€
  • 3 day - 42€
  • 4 day - 52€
  • 5 day - 60€
  • 7 day - 70€

The Pass Jeux or QR codes is required to enter areas near the Seine or to attend opening ceremonies or games until 26 July and from 11 August to 8 September. There remains pedestrian routes to traverse these areas such as the Alexander III bridge, Pont des Arts, or rue de la Cité and associated bridges. Métros/RERs are all operating, some stations, such as Concorde, Cité, and Tuileries are closed. Generally, you will not need a pass jeux or OR code for most activities. My 3 observations about changes in Paris since 2018:

  • Restaurant prices have almost doubled and restaurants are busier than ever
  • Hotel prices have also doubled
  • Navigo, public transportation's electronic fare system, has become increasing important. RER/Transilien train prices have dropped significantly yet ticketing remains paper only, with the exception of the ticket MTA.

Thanks again, Tocard for the information . I will be in Paris for one day only, October 9. I need to travel R/T, CDG to Paris as well as use the bus and Metro in Paris for that day. I imagine adding the 5 zone navigo jour to my navigo easy card for €20.60 would be the most cost-effective but I'd be interested to know what the post Olympic price of the RER to/from Paris will be.
Too bad about the increased hotel and restaurant prices. I did notice that even the airport hotel has gone up a fair amount. I'm still looking forward to having a delicious meal but is good to be prepared for the price increases. Ah well, it's still Paris!
