I have a couple of navigo easy cards from 2 years ago. Will they still be valid next year? Do I need to add funds or is it linked to my credit card? Sorry, but I can't remember how they worked. We've traveled alot the last couple of years and I'm confusing different countries travel cards.
The cards are still good, but they are not linked to your credit card, so you will have to recharge them with what you need for this trip
You can do that by downloading the app on your phone I think or you can just put it on the machine at any metro station and follow the prompts
Thank you.
I'll only need it to get from CDG to Chartres. Will a Navigo Day Pass cover that (RER, Metro, and local train)? Can I load a day pass onto the card?
The train from Paris to Chartres is a TER train. I do not believe that TER trips are covered by the Navigo passes but I hope that someone with more definitive knowledge will chime in. If you are just making the one trip to Chartres from CDG, I say just forget about the pass and buy a ticket to Paris and ticket from Paris to Chartres.
The Navigo Easy cards may be used for tickets t+, airport bus tickets, or a day pass within the Ile de France.
Chartres is way beyond that limit. You will need to purchase tickets from French Rail, the SNCF.
Chartres is not in the Ile de France and so not covered by Paris transport products. But the Easy never allowed distance travel from the airport or to suburbs e.g. Versailles except with a 5 zone day pass.. the Easy is only useful for travel IN PARIS unless you load a very expensive multi zone day pass, which might have been worth it if you were going CDG to Versailles -- but not Chartres.
It would get you to Paris but you would have to get a train ticket from Paris to Chartres. A ticket from Paris to Chartres is in the 20 Euro range one way.
