If I use the Navigo easy card for both the metro and the bus, will the card deposit be charged separately for each?
I use a different kind of card but with the Easy, you purchase the tickets you want in advance. If you want métro tickets at 2.50€, you purchase and load métro tickets.
yes. Under the new transport rules since Jan 1 2025 bus and metro tickets are separate tickets. The metro tickets are 2.50 and take you anywhere in the Ile de France (no more RER tickets with separate pricing by distance). The bus tickets are 2.00 euro. Both can be loaded on the Easy.
FWIW you could never transfer between bus and metro on the same ticket. Even when they used the old t+ tickets, you could only transfer from metro to RER. or from Bus to Tram -- but not between the trains and the buses/trams.
So if you load both bus tickets and metro/RER tickets on one card, can you use them both on the same trip? Or do you need two separate Easy cards? I’m not sure we will use the bus that much, but my understanding is that bus tickets also include the Montmarte Funicular. So if we take the metro to the Montmarte stop and then the Funicular, how does that work? I know there is also an app but we’ll have kids with us that don’t have phones.
You can load bus and metro tickets on the same Easy -- the system knows which one to pluck when you validate. And if you have a day pass, it knows to use that and not draw tickets.
However. to use it from or to the airports the card cannot have any ticket on it except the airport ticket. So if you came in to an airport and wanted to use metro 14 from Orly or the RER B from CDG you would need an empty Easy to load your ticket on and then once you got to Paris load it with metro and bus tickets you might need.
