Navigo Decouverte at CDG

In December will be arriving at CDG at 9pm and plan to buy Navigo passes at the airport. We will probably not arrive at the RER ticket window until 10pm. Does anyone know the hours of operation? Have searched but for some reason I can't find this information. Thanks for any help.

Hi Carol. I spent a long time looking as well and didn't come up with much. I know the last trains during the week usually leave around 10:55pm and 11:56 on the weekends. Im guessing that the ticket booth MIGHT still have someone there at 10pm but I can't find anything to verify that.

Also, if you buy a Navigo pass, you will need to have a passport size photo ready to onto the pass. You can usually find photo booths at most train stations. Here is a link to a website with more information about getting a Navigo pass: http://parisbytrain.com/tag/pass-navigo/

Worst case scenario, you buy a separate ticket into the city for about 12 euros or so and then just buy the Navigo pass the next morning. Not quite the answer you were looking for, but that's what I would do in the same situation.

Great question. Do most attractions in Paris proper fall within zone 1 and 2? We are looking at going to Montmartre and Pere Lachaise Cemetary.....I assume those are in Zone 1-2. How do you get to Versailles? Do you pay a supplement at the RER station? Buy a separate ticket.? Cost? Thanks

The last RER train is at 11:50 pm. There is also a TGV to Lille at 10:07 pm. I would go ahead and assume it is. If not, you'll just have to buy a 10 euro ticket out of the machine. The passport photo size is 1" by 1.25". Take a decent selfie and print it on your printer using the shrink/enlarge functions to get the size right.

@ photobearsam- Anywhere the Metro goes is in zones 1 & 2. Buy a separate ticket to go to Versailles.

Thanks to everyone for your responses. Our original flight landed 6 hrs earlier and then got changed. We have our passes and just need to refill them but we're travelling with family members who will have to purchase theirs. Oh, well. Guess we'll be prepared to buy the Navigo passes and if the ticket window is not open we'll follow plan B: buy the ticket from the machine and the passes the next day.

Thanks again!

When I got mine a few years ago, you could only buy the pass or recharge it at metro stations, which means you cannot do it at CDG. But now you can recharge at machines, so maybe there's a machine or two at the RER at CDG. If I remember correctly from my visit this past April, some machines only take credit cards, some also take cash.

The passes are now dezoned so you get a pass for all 5 zones for 21 Euro plus the cost of the pass. The photo is postage stamp sized not passport sized -- 25/30 mm. You can bring photos you print on your computer; nothing fancy needed.

If the window is not open to sell you an ND, you can just get tickets into the city for 10 Euros and do it the next day -- but of course it would be nice to get that value on arrival. I would assume the window will be open, at least an information window as long as the trains are running, but don't know for sure. The information window people can often sell things with a credit card e.g. we had our NDs charged at an information window at a metro last week. They might be able to sell you the NDs with a credit card. Otherwise you buy the card in a machine and take the receipt to the window to get the card kit. If there is a line they just hand you the kit to put together yourself then you charge it on the machine. Or if you buy it at the window, they will charge it before handing it to you. If there is no line, they might put it together for you.

To charge the Navigos there are machines, but they don't take bills only coins so come prepared with lots of Euro coins. There is said to be a machine that will change bills to coins but I didn't find it so can't attest to it.

Thanks for the additional info. We'll just have to be prepared to deal with whatever the situation.

Thanks again!

As of sept 1st 2015 the navigo pass is good for zones 1-5 . My wife and I were there for 2 weeks in the first of sept and bought the passes . They worked great, good on busses , trains, subways, the furnicular , the train and bus to fountainbleau. After the first week you can recharge the card at one of the machines.
