Navigating CDG with a tight connection.

Flying Air France from Los Angeles to Marseille via CDG with a tight connection. We arrive from L.A. at terminal 2E and depart from CDG to Marseille from terminal 2F. We will have checked luggage but my question is what is the order of going through passport control and security and at which terminal does all occur? Do we just head to terminal 2F and go through passport/border control there and then security? Something else? At the gate in L.A. we will tell the agent our checked luggage is going to Marseille so I assume we don’t touch our luggage at CDG since it’s all on Air France.

Thank you! Trying to get as much info as possible beforehand.

You are on one ticket presumably and thus will transfer airside; you follow the yellow correspondence signs and will go through Schengen immigration along the way with other people transferring. Do not follow people arriving to Paris and go through that immigration process or you will not make your plane.

If you go to the CDG website you will find explicit instructions on how to do this since you know your two terminals. They give time estimates and what the process is. There are also videos on line of people making these type connections. I personally like to know exactly what is needed in a transfer so I can hit the ground running. Some transfers in 2 involve an airside shuttle but you will find that out -- if it applies to you -- by looking at the guidelines on the CDG website.

You will need to go through passport control, and there will be no other route. You just follow the crowds. You will likely go through security at 2F. As mentioned, used the airport’s app for detailed info related to your specific flights.

Oh boy, I'm glad I asked here and thank you both very much for responding. I might have messed up going through passport control as, and I'm embarrassed to admit it, I assumed "Schengen area" was for the residents of the area and NOT where people are traveling to. That would have been a disaster, but now I know!!

THANK YOU!!!!!!!

We have transferred from terminal 2E to 2F at CDG when flying in on Delta and out on Air France.
There is a bit of walking, but we have never had problem with the transfer 3-4 times.

I always plan on 1 1/2 hour for such a transfer.

I believe the Immigration controls are at 2E, but not absolutely sure.

I’ll just add that going from 2E to 2F you’ll go thru Security when you get to 2F then Passport Control. Be ready for security with empty pockets, no belt, etc. I had about 15 minutes in line at Security and could quickly remove tissues/chapstick from my pockets and stash them in my personal item.

I also recommend you take a look at times for the next flights to Marseille on Air France. There are bound to be flights going every few hours. This is good to know just in case you have some kind of delay out of LA.

You will need to go through passport control, and there will be no other route.

This is dangerous advice. I know the poster meant WHILE transferring airside, but if you follow the crowd from the plane most of them will be going through Schengen entry into Paris and you are completely doomed if you follow that crowd.

Once you are on the yellow signed correspondence route on the way to your particular terminal you will automatically find yourself in the immigration line for Schengen and security; you cannot avoid immigration accidentally.
