Narrowing it down - Hotel help

Hi all

Thank you all so much for the great advice already.

Right now we are leaning towards the Family room (2 connected rooms) at Hotel Pas De Calais but was curious if anyone has stayed there and had thoughts? Not a lot of pictures available on website. We are family of 4 with two girls ages 11 and 13. My main concern is that the two rooms are definitely small (entire family apartment is 35 sq meters).

Seems like ideal location for first timers to Paris (not on the Main Street but right near the hustle and bustle).

We also love the look of Hotel Le 6 but just debating location for all the many reasons people have mentioned.

If anyone had thoughts on similar, contemporary hotels with connected rooms (slightly larger) please let me know!

Thank you again!

If you're looking for an American-style hotel with connected rooms, try the Pullman Montparnasse our the Courtyard Gare de Lyon.

This hotel also seems super nice -- same set up but slightly larger rooms. Anyone stayed here and could compare?

Hotel Fougère

Merci!

John, truly, my reply is not meant to be snarky, but you’re not narrowing your choices, down but expanding them. I think you’re getting analysis paralysis.

There’s no ONE right choice. There are hundreds of hotels in Paris, and everyone will have differing opinions on the suitability of that hotel/area.

If several knowledgeable people opine that a hotel and area is great, I’d trust their opinions.

There are so many hotels in Paris that you will keep finding many options and paralysis from analysis could set in. You had a lovely hotel with Hotel Le 6. I've never stayed at Hôtel Fougère but it looks fine. Understanding that you have to take TripAdvisor ratings with a grain of salt, it is ranked 130 out of the 1,840 hotels that TA reviews in Paris. Hotel le 6 is ranked 48. Pas de Calais is ranked 112. All the places you have found are good. They will all have their little differences. Maybe just pick the one with the biggest rooms. I am a person for whom the hotel is an integral part of the experience (not a "the hotel only a place for me to sleep" traveler) and so I understand the desire to find the perfect spot. Do you want a large chain hotel or do you want a local place? Is the size of the room the most important thing or is the location more important? Do you want to stay in Saint Germain which is very convenient but expensive and full of tourists? There are so many hotels in Paris that you could drive yourself crazy because there are so many options. I've been to the Hotel le 6, the Pullman Montparnasse, and the Hotel Pas de Calais. Based on charm, location, and service I'd rank them Hotel le 6 followed by Hotel Pas de Calais followed by Pullman Montparnasse. I will say of the Pullman that it is the only hotel that my family has stayed at in Paris that had large American style elevators and the rooms were huge by Paris standards.
