Hello. We are a family of four who will be taking two days/one night to drive from Cassis to Annecy in mid-June. We want to go by way of the Verdon Gorge and Moustiers-Sainte-Marie. We could spend the night there, but that makes the next day of driving pretty long. Any other suggestions for a place to spend the night along the way? Route suggestions also greatly appreciated!
Hi,
Are you close to Route 85 in any of these places? If not, you aren't on the Route Napoleon, which starts with Cannes all the way northwards to Grenoble. It was at Laffrey, 5 miles outside south/southeast of Grenoble when the famous stand took place. After that incident and Grenoble, Napoleon knew he would be back in Paris without a shot fired in anger, ie a bloodless return.
I m driving from annnecy to Avignon and cassis as I write this we are staying in Sisteron at citadel hotel. Everything good so far. Family of 5 in one room. Good crepes a short walk away. Beautiful mountain valley along the way south of Grenoble.
Thank you for the recommendation in Sisteron! I appreciate it so much. Curious about the route you are taking from Annecy to Cassis?
Sisteron is on the Route Napoleon after he had left Digne.
I am on my GPS route. Ha
