Staying for 3 nights in Nantes. Can anyone recommend places to stay near the Grand Elephant? Thanks.
I wouldn't recommend staying near le Grand Elephant as it's a bit of a jaunt from the centre-ville - unless that's the only activity you're doing there. I stayed at the Hôtel Oceania this summer in Nantes and it was nothing short of fantastic. Had a room with windows on both sides overlooking Place Graslin. The parking is also free - but first come, first served. It's about a 15 minute walk from the elephant. Also the restaurant La Cigale is worth a stop at because it's an architectural jewel and a delicious place to eat.
Of course Passage Pommeraye...a XIX century version of a mall...should make your list and finish it with a visit to pâtisserie Maison George Larnicol for their kouingnettes...
I've not stayed there, but the Demain Hotel is conveniently located to Les Machines, the Centre Ville and shopping in the Passage Pommeraye and surrounding area. Prices seem reasonable, and guest reviews are excellent.
