My Paris Itnerary

Well heading to Paris in just over two weeks and I do have butterflies.

I have seen other itineraries, some very structured. Mine is going to be the opposite. Mine is going to be very casual.

Wednesday

Supposedly I will arrive early morning at CDG. Supposedly.

Plan to take taxi to hotel and know enough to go to the authorized and regulated taxi stand.

Hope to be at hotel early afternoon and will relax until check in. After checking in, I want to explore my immediate neighborhood, have a bite to eat and go to hotel.

May then take. shower and even a nap. Then. back out for more exploring and another bite to eat

Thursday

I plan to spend most of the day taking the Toot Bus or Big Bus doing the entire route at least one time. May do it twice sitting on the other side.

Will be taking breaks and eating.

Towards the end of the day, I may stop at an attraction and walk back to my hotel.

Friday

My Paris Greeter is going to meet me at my hotel at 10 am and here is the walk that my Greeter has suggested.

"I would propose to go around the latin quarter between the Seine river and up to the Pantheon that is around 1 km distance. we could see the Sorbonne university from outside, the collège de France and Hotel de Cluny and go up to Place du Panthéon and end in Luxembourg Garden."

I like it. I believe the walk is one or two hours so we will be finishing about noon. I may stay in the Luxumbourg Garden and explore on my own or walk back to my hotel to freshen up and nap and have a bite to eat.

If I do the latter, I will explore on my own later going in the other direction maybe towards Notre Dame.

Saturday / Sunday

A Forum Member is also going to be in Paris these two days and her hotel is close to mine She has suggested getting together and I am up for it. I am going to let her decide upon the day, time and what we are going to do. She has been to Paris and I have not.,

I am open but will have alternative plans just in case and will have other plans for the times that I am on my own.

May 9th

Notre Dame is participating in the Evening Cathedral Program and has an evening program planned. If I can get a reservation, I plan to do Evening Cathedral at Notre Dame.

Saturday / Sunday.

As said I may be meeting a forum member either Saturday or Sunday. Whatever we do, we do and then I will be filling in.

Monday

I believe that Monday will be my last full day in Central Paris. I am aware that some museums and other places will be closed. I am leaving it open for now. It will be a wish day. What have I not yet seen that I might want to see if possible?

Tuesday

I will be going to the airport for the night. I will have breakfast at my hotel and have them call a taxi. No rushing. Want to take my time.

Checking in to a hotel at the airport and relaxing before a long flight home on Wednesday. Will explore the airport late afternoon and early evening.

As said, my itinerary is meant to be casual. I will love what I can see and not dwell on what I could not see. October is still open just in case .....

I have my limitations such as age, mobility issues and my insomnia. And then there is budget and budget can be a limitation.

We had a wonderful discussion on Forum some months back about traveling differently as we age.

It reads like a lovely trip, relaxed and easy. We have the same philosophy- we enjoy what we see and forget about the rest.

This is the best Paris itinerary I've ever seen! We visit once or twice a year and just sleep in, stroll around, and eat. That's the best of Paris.

Thank you AbbyO for the kind words.

I was thinking that I was not as creative as other members who go to Paris

bostonphil7,
I am so happy for your Paris plans. Just in case you have an afternoon with 2-3 free hours and an itch to see some art, the Cluny Museum of medieval art has not only a great collection in a wonderful space, but I found many more places to sit and rest when I was there. This was before my second knee replacement so I welcomed the chance to sit and admire the collections at my leisure. There is even a small cafe about halfway through to relax with a coffee or tea. We walked up and had no line to go in. This was on a weekday in early, early June. Go after 3 and the school groups will be mostly gone, if I remember correctly. It costs 14 euros, there are elevators and it was not crowded. We felt we had as much time there as we wanted. The Cluny should be in your area.
Just a thought if you feel so inclined.
Amusez-vous bien!

Hello Judy

Thank you for your response.

The Cluny is on my list of "really want to see". After doing some research, I have gone from a "must see" list to "really want to see" because there is so much to see and do. Realistically, I do not think that I am going to be able to see very much of what I really want to see.

I have said that I might meet up with another member on forum and she suggested going to the Cluny.

Even if we do not meet up, I would really like to go to the Cluny but I also want to do to the D'Orsay and the Orange ?????? (I will come back and edit this) Edited. . Musée de l'Orangerie

Thank you for the information that you have given me about The Cluny, It was very high on my Really Want To See List but now it is higher.

I love museums.
