Museum time slots.

The guide book did not recommend reserving a time slot for any museum besides the Louvre. That left us unable to enter the Orangerie and waiting a very long time for Sainte Chappelle. We highly recommend reserving a time slot! They do not seem to care if you are a little off on the entry time but if you don't have an entry time the lines are outrageous.

Welcome to the forum.

To me, although Rick tries to keep the guide books updated yearly or every other year, things have changed a lot since Covid. Better to ask questions on the forum for your next trip for up to the minute information!

Sorry you missed the Orangerie. That can be at the top of your list for next time!

It was always better to get timed tickets as they gave you access to short security entrance line. But post COVID it is really essential.

I’m sitting here reading the most recent pocket Paris that was published in July 2023 and for those museums the original poster listed it definitely recommends reservations

I have the best of France and Paris guidebooks and it notes many museums require or it is strongly suggested to get timed entrances even if you have a pass.

Presently in Paris and it is mobbed! Yes, Covid changed much and previously quiet museums now have timed entries. I usually purchase everything I can before I arrive but slipped up this time. Am shut out of crypts, sold out for the week. Lines are very lengthy for most everything.

We were in Paris last week of September. At Orsay, Orangerie, Arts Décoratifs we were allowed to enter 30 to 45 minutes ahead of our timed entry! Paris was packed. Really had to squeeze on to metro cars at times. Watch your purse/pockets/backpacks! We enjoyed a Friday evening Vivaldi concert at Ste. Chapelle. Marvelous!
