Museum Tickets, Paris

A lot of people worry about how to get tickets for the various museums and other attractions in Paris and environs. We just returned from a month in Paris (Sept 3 to Oct 3, 2015), and I have two recommendations. First, for just about any museum or attraction (Giverny, Versailles), you can buy tickets at FNAC, a huge store in the Les Halles area of Paris, near the Pompidou Center. The ticket office is on the bottom floor of that store. FNAC sells a wide variety of stuff, and in this one, I have never seen a larger bookstore. Their inventory was amazing, though all in French. When we went to the Orsay Museum, we discovered a news vendor stall just outside the museum that sells tickets to the Orsay, the Louvre and museum passes. There is no line. I walked up, bought a ticket for 11 euro, and walked right in to the Orsay. No line or anything and saw the very fine exhibit, Splendour and Misery. I highly recommend that. I think going to that news vendor for museum tickets really will simplify your life.

There are about a dozen FNAC stores scattered around central Paris.
