Museum Pass for child?

Our son is 15. I understand that children under 18 enter many museums for free.

My question is would we have to wait in a ticket line to obtain a free "ticket" for his entry? If so, I'll just buy our son a museum pass to save time since the others in the party will be purchasing a museum pass.

He just walks in with you. The only two places that require a free ticket are the Arc du Triomphe and Invalides and those tend not to have crazy lines anyway. He should have ID although if he doesn't look 18 he probably won't be asked to show it.

Piggybacking on this. For whatever reason I thought that the free entry only applied to children residing in the EU. Non EU residing children under 18 are also free then?

My understanding is that many museums are free for children under 18 from any country. We are from the US.

French students/young adults under 26 are free also (I believe). Please correct me if I am wrong!

Thank you... glad I read this or I would have gotten him a pass when we get ours.
