Museum Pass and Versailles timed ticket

I am arriving in Paris May 18 and will buy the Museum Pass then. But I need to get tickets to Versailles in advance. Is it possible to get the timed entry now and buy the Museum Pass for the ticket when I get to Paris? Or do I just need to buy the Versailles tickets now to get the timed entry and use the Museum Pass I buy there for the other museums?

Hi, I just came back from Versailles a week ago today. We used the museum pass. Everyone who has a pre-timed or museum pass goes into the same line so its more flexible for you to use the pass. There's no advantage to buying the ticket directly from Versailles other than not having to pay on site to go to the gardens. You can buy Versailles tickets on their website though I dont believe its timed entry. If you want to do extra things like the garden or Marie's hamlet/trion it will cost extra but, I found the process simple and easy.

I think dm might be referring to the Versaille tickets that have a specific time slot and not just the pre-paid tickets. I also bought these timed tickets as well for late May, but I am also not exactly sure how it works. On the website, they have a map and it shows that at the Dufour pavilion, there are two doors. The door furthest to the right seems to be the door that people with tickets and, I believe, also the museum pass line up and then the middle door seems to be the door that people with timed tickets stand in. The website says that those with timed tickets are guaranteed entry within 30 minutes of their ticket time. I am just not quite sure how security works outside the main gate before you get to these differentiated lines. But, I have not been yet, so I might not be accurate in anything I have said!

If you have a Museum Pass you can't get a timed entry and i would never go to the chateau without a timed entry; the Museum Pass does not give line priority. The timed entry allows you to go to the head of the line and enter near your time. We could not get timed tickets a few weeks ago and so bought the Kings apartment tour which uses a different door. The timed tickets are again available. Be sure to allow enough time to clear perimeter security so you don't miss your time window.

How much time do you recommend to leave for the perimeter security?
