Museum Pass and travelling with a teen

Hi there: My first post on here! I am going to Paris with my 17 year old daughter and she of course is free at most Paris museums so I thought I would buy a Museum pass for me. But then how does that work at the museums? When you book timed tickets can I get the same time for your teen as me? I not want to get in fast and have her wait in a long line for hours. Any info would be helpful!! Thx Victoria (Toronto, Canada)

well, most museums you have to pre book the time - so you'd have to fiddle w the Louvre or Versailles' site - you should be able to order 1 of one free type and 1 of another free type (unless they're bundled together), with no issue.

before COVID the kid just walked in with you; almost no places required a ticket for them. Now sites that require reserved booking also usually have the ability to book free tickets when you book your paid reservation. We did this recently at the Louvre.

looking at the Musee D'Orsay and it just says

"Holders of a Paris Museum Pass or of a ticket purchased from a third-party vendor do not need a time slot reservation."

Does that mean if I book a time for my daughter then we both go in at same time ? But then I am paying 10 Eruos for that on top of the Museum Pass .. I don't understand... Because I can't book a time slot for my daughter without paying for it ..

We recently took a 12 year old so there was no issue of age. I looked back at our tickets -- and we had no reservation for her -- we just had two full pay tickets and she accompanied us.

I would assume that she could just come in with you as a child when you show your pass. She at 17 should have ID -- I'd take the passport that day and be sure it is very securely stowed -- Just assume she walks in with you.

for the Orsay, it specifically says:
"Free entry for visitors eligible for free admission (no tickets or reservations required) upon presentation of proof of eligibility:
- Those under 18 years old,
- EU citizens aged between 18 and 25 years,
- People with disabilities (and any accompanier),
- ICOM cardholders.

So she doesn't need a timed entry, and neither do PMP holders.

So let's take the Louvre:
"All visitors, including those entitled to free admission, must book a time slot."
For HER, under 18, select the correct line, the date, check out, etc. Load into your basket. Return to the main ticket menu, pick the one for YOU, PMP holder, do the same you did for her. Load to basket.

Does this work for you?

Thanks so much skunklet1771 ! So helpful.. I guess my only question now is if under 18s don't need to book a timed entry and Museum pass holders don't need to book a timed entry does that mean that there will be a huge line up with those people ? Or am I got getting this ? Victoria

well, it just depends - i happened to go on a Thursday night, when they're open late, and sailed right in, so that is a concern.

you go in in the same line with reserve ticket holders; this used to be short, but now that everyone has a reserved ticket the line is longish. They stage the line by half hour group -- you just go into the soonest one. It moves pretty quickly.
