museum pass and teenagers

While my husband and I have been to Paris a few times before, this is the first time we are traveling with our two teenagers (17 & almost 15). I have read where anyone under 18 can get into most of the museums for free. My question: does this mean the under 18s have to stand in the regular (usually hours long) lines OR can they skip the line and come with us in the "much shorter museum pass lines"?

IF they have to stand in the regular long lines, we'll just buy them a museum pass.

ANY info on this would be appreciated!!!!

Thanks muchly
Anne

At almost all places they will just walk in with you. You need to get tickets for them at Invalides and at the Arc de Triomphe but those are not generally horrendous lines. Everywhere else e.g. Orsay, Louvre, Versailles -- they just walk in with the pass holders. Since your kids are close to the cut off age, they should have passports or copies of their passports to prove age if they are challenged. With my 14 year old we were never asked but she didn't look 18.
