Do we need to purchase tickets in advance or is it easy to decide when we get there when we’d like to go.
I’d recommend you do some dummy bookings on the official Musee d’Orsay website to see what the situation looks like for your date/s. I went thru the process for the special Van Gogh exhibit that opens Oct 3 and a few of the times are completely sold. If you buy a timed entry for Van Gogh that is also inclusive of the whole museum too.
When we were in Paris recently we bought tickets to the Musee D'Orsay the day before, when we knew our schedule better. We were glad that we did because some times were sold out and others were not. Then we could plan our day. Tickets were scanned from an I Phone at the entrance.
Thank you! We have timed entry for the Louvre, but I don’t want to schedule each day the whole day.
If you decide to wing it, plan to go on a day other than Tuesday. That is the day the Louvre is closed and crowds are always bigger then.
Ok thanks Pam. We actually leave this Sunday evening.
Yes, I also recommend doing day before for stuff. Including getting train tickets at a station, less stressful.
If you're going to be visiting a number of museums and galleries in Paris, you could also have a look at the *Paris Museum Pass - * https://www.parismuseumpass.fr/t-en .
I checked the 10 day weather forecast and Thursday PM 42% chance of rain. But actually weather looks like fall but cloudy if anything. I would check the musee site now, see what it looks like for the next week while you are there and see if it is feasible to visit when you want without booking tickets right now. They are closed on Monday but open til 945pm on Thursday.
