Any thoughts on the Museum Camondo? It looks fascinating.
It’s a great way to spend an hour. The story of the family that lived there is very touching and the house itself is gorgeous.
It is a beautiful small museum, definitely worth your time. If I am remembering well. It has a nice little gift shop, too. The family came to very sad end in Auschwitz during WW2.
As an added bonus, it's covered by the Paris Museum Pass. I agree it's highly worth seeing.
One of those little gems that few tourists visit. We found it very worthwhile.
Very enjoyable...and we were almost the only ones there.
I don't particularly find household things interesting for shopping etc, but the collection of hand painted china at the Museum made me covet dinnerware. Beautiful hand panted dishes with different birds. Lovely old house with lovely old things. One of the houses granted rights to treat Parc Monceau as their own private backyard after hours.
The story of this family is heartbreaking. The oldest son died for France in the First world War and they assumed that they would be protected as French citizens who had contributed so much -- and so they didn't flee and they died at Auschwitz.
Plus it's a peek into how the 1% lived.
