Hi. I can not seem to find a clear answer to this online so hopefully someone here has some recent experience. I'm going to buy advanced tickets for my husband and I for the D'Orsay. Our 3 kids are under 18 so they don't need a ticket. On the museums website it says timed tickets go through one entrance and under 18s go through a different one. Does this mean they can't enter with us? It seems a bit odd to me. Thanks in advance for any help with my question.
When we took our then 12 year old granddaughter April a year ago, she just walked in with us. The Orsay has an increasingly complicated door entry system, but I'd do that anyway unless they actually sent the kids to a different line.
Janet has covered the kid advice but I’ll make one suggestion.
When you get into the main hall, go straight back then veer to the left. There are escalators that are hidden that take you up to the 5th floor where the Impressionists paintings are. Start there then do the Van Goghs at the end of the level then work your way down. If you lose momentum and folks get tired you’ll have seen the stuff that the kiddos will probably like best.
This is a wonderful museum!
Well, much to Impressionist-loving adults' surprise, the kids are usually very interested in the large sculptures on the ground floor. It's good to follow the younger ones and see what is attracting them. Since this is a museum with several floors and departments, it would be good to preview on-line and then go where they have chosen. They may very well end up liking the Impressionists and Post-Impressionists best of all or maybe the Art Deco furniture.

You are right! That does surprise me! I had to hunt for the polar bear this time…
Thank you all so much!
I have been to the museum but it was 20 years ago so these extra tips are most appreciated.
You should be able to go together. French are very relaxed about families. Some more advice on here for you and your kids

When we were in Paris in December 2021, they let our son (4 at the time) enter with us through the Museum Pass line.
Not sure if it's changed, but I doubt they'd separate families like that.
