Musée d'Orsay Renovation Work

We wish to inform you that, from March 10, 2026 until the summer of 2028, the Musée d'Orsay will undertake a major renovation of its reception areas in several phases. This project aims to enhance visitor comfort and reduce the building's environmental footprint.

The main entrance hall and the forecourt will be completely renovated, and a new space integrating the main bookshop-gift shop will be created.

Is the museum and all the contents still available for viewing? We hope to be there in October

Thanks KGC for the information. I hope they are going to create some cover for the people waiting in line. I can't think of a Paris museum that has adequate holding areas for visitor lines pre-security. I do understand they want to screen people before they get too far into a venue but that also means people are waiting in the sun/rain/wind.

Editing to add: Oh wow! I see they are changing the entrances based on the link Kate provided. Thanks for that Kate! I might have gone to the wrong door.

editing again: Really I should read and think before I post. But looking at the new plan it looks like they will have to move my favorite open-air statue...the Rhinoceros by Monsieur Jacquemart!

"Have you seen Durer's Rhino in Nuremberg?"

No, I have not! Wow, what a picture!
