Musee D'Orsay free entrance for under 18 yrs old

Museum website states person under 18 don't need a ticket for entrance to the museum.
Has anyone had issues with an under 18 person being admitted without it, other than having to present ID?

As long as valid proof of age can be presented, I've never heard of a problem.
A passport is considered a valid form of identity/age.

The idea that there is this extreme scrutiny to enter is strange. Kids are free. Mostly no one even asks for ID -- If they do ask then a passport suffices (probably a copy but not always). WE have traveled with 12 and 14 year olds and they were never asked for ID -- if a child is 16 or 17 and looks 20 they might get asked. Thousands of people stream past the ticket taker every day; it is not a time consuming or an event that involves a personal engagement.

However, there are lots of stories where parents school their kids on how to shade their age to get past restrictions like 12 and under so it's hardly unheard of. Sounds like luck of the draw to me, but as noted it's quite easy to ascertain someone's age from their passport.
