Hello. Has anyone taken the guided tour at Musee d’orsay offered at the museum? I was wondering if you have any experience on that or if we should spend the money on hiring a personal guide. We will be there first week of July so my guess is that it will be very crowded.

You are correct, it will be very crowded. I went there twice on my recent visit to Paris. Get there before they open and head straight upstairs (5th floor I believe) to see the impressionists as that area gets the most crowded. If you want a guided tour, download the Rick Steves Audio app and listen to it as he guides you through the museum.

I agree with the above comment. We went a couple of weeks ago and got there close to opening time. We had a timed ticket and almost walked right in. There was a line of people (not terribly long) waiting to buy tickets. We went straight to the impressionists and saw them with without it being crowded. But the crowds got bigger as time went on. Go early.
