Musee d'Orsay-advance tickets?

We will be visiting Paris at the beginning of May. Do we need to purchase advance tickets to the Musee d'Orsay? Thanks.

Yes -- the line to enter for ticket holders is much shorter than that for people who need to buy tickets. You can buy directly on the museum's website.

Avoid Tuesdays when the Louvre is closed and the day after the Orsay closure. The lines for those with or without tickets can be hideous that day -- go Weds or Thurs. The line for ticket holders used to be super short. Now that everyone has reserved tickets these days, you will still face a significant line -- should be shorter than for no tickets.

It’s been a few years - 2019, but you could purchase a combo Musee d’Orsay & the Orangerie on the museum website. You didn’t need to go the same day.

I last visited in September , bought tickets online , and most importantly . went at four oclock on a Thursday afternoon . Walked right in , no crowds . Evening hours are best

Rodin museum has same ticket. We went to Rodin then the next day walked in to D'Orsay (September 2022)

Funny story on the Louvre closed on Tuesday. Our family first trip to Paris we walked up to the Louvre and there wasn't much line. I tell the family We are in luck! No line.....it was a Tuesday

Rick has a very complete list of open and closed days for Paris museums, read and heed. I had to make notes on my daily calendar in case plans changed and we needed/wanted to do a museum.
