Mulhouse?

Hi all:

Spending 2 weeks next summer with my friend, and 4 teen/pre-teenboys between us... looking for a home exchange to keep costs down (we did one last summer in Canada!) so we are constrained to where we can find one, hopefully!

Really want Strasbourg, but might find an exchange in Mulhouse... anyone been there? Not sure how it is.... might not be a good choice. Thoughts?

Thanks!!

If you can't get Strasbourg, Mulhouse would be just fine especially for your boys because of two spectacular museums . . .railroad and cars. You could leave the boys there all day . . .for days. Mulhouse has easy train connections to Basel, Freiburg, Colmar etc. To me it's a very underrated destination.

The boys will certainly love the Bugatti museum in Mulhouse and the train museum there seemes not to miss too.

As people have said the car and railway museums are the main attractions and your boys will probably enjoy them. Other than that there's a small old town but nothing particularly spectacular. If you want something more olde-worlde Colmar and Strasbourg are both pretty close by train.

I too think Mulhouse would be a good base. We once exchanged in Freiburg Germany and popped over the border several times to visit the French wine villages, Mulhouse and Strasbourg.

Another suggestion would be to join one other exchange company that has a lot of French listings when you are looking for a specific location. Lately we have belonged to two because one has twice as many listings in France. My favorite for France is homeforexchange and my favorite house in Strasbourg says they are interested in an exchange in California! Good luck, you can't go wrong with that area of France.
