Hello. Does anyone know the average temperature in Lucerne and on Mt. Pilatus in July? My grandchildren will also be taking that alpine slide on Mt. Pilatus, as well as the cable car and cruise on Lake Lucerne. I'm wondering if we should pack special clothing for these activities (long pants, jackets or sweaters), or is the temperature usually warm in this location in July. Thanks so much for any help you can give me with this matter.
If you would like responses from those with local knowledge, I would suggest you repost your question on the Swiss forum, since that is where Mt. Pilatus is located.
These questions are nearly impossible to answer since weather can be a big variable at that time of year and especially on a mountain. The temperature on a lake will be cooler because the water is cold. A jacket could be useful on a lake. It might be raining, could be windy -- all have impact on temperature - wind chill. I would have a jacket and maybe a light sweater in the day bag. You never know.
Thanks so much for this info. I did repost this question on the "Switzerland" site, realizing too late that I was posting the question for the wrong country.
Before you leave for Lucerne check Accuweather to see what the weather will be; it is important to layer as it maybe warm down in Lucerne and colder and windy up on Mt. Pilatus - the trip is wonderful as it had both a cable car and cogwheel train and the views
Re: Accuweather.
AccuWeather baciscally repackages weather forecast and data. A better source of Swiss weather forecast and data is the Swiss Federal Office of Meteorology (MeteoSwiss):
https://www.meteoswiss.admin.ch/home.html?tab=overview
My prefered weather repackaging website is the Norwegian yr.no website. For Lucerne:

And for Pilatus at elevation 2119 meters:

Thank you for this information. Very helpful!
