I have been unable to get a clear answer to this question. Since i would like to avoid an over scheduled itinerary, can i enter the Louvre through the dedicated entrance for card holders without a reservation and avoid lines as well?
Edited: I think I have the answer for during sold out days and periods that require reservations.
Yes and Yes/No.
Yes, you can enter without a reservation. I am assuming this because I obtained member reservations to two special exhibits by logging into the Amis' website. Since these days are marked sold out, I am assuming the membership is giving me unreserved access, or I would not have been able to make the reservation.
Yes you can enter through the Richelieu entrance. However, often later in the day this entry closes, so then you have to use another entrance. I usually enter between 9-9:30 in the morning and leave by 11-11:30
Spoiler alert: I don't reserve a time. I just show up.
Are you saying that you entered on a day that was marked completely full, and it was also during a period the Louvre required everyone to have a reservation, including Les Amis, that you are able to enter with the Card? This is what we're trying to find out, Alexander. It would be helpful to know if you are referring to now or previously.
I have always just waltzed in, too. But there are some temporary rules at this moment.
We used our Amis cards on April 18 without reservations and entered at the Richelieu entrance very quickly and with no problems and visited a special exhibit also with no reservation. Only once so far, but will be using it the first couple weeks of May and hoping to do the same. It is sort of the whole point of having a membership.
I would suppose it wasn't full, if they let me in. I just show up to the dedicated entrance and go on. I tend to go in on a whim.
The last time I did this was last month.
I think Janet has answered the question about the April 12th to May 12th required reservation period because she was there a few days ago, but was it also marked as sold out that day?
