Moving Walkways at Châtelet to be shut down for repairs

The moving walkways (like escalators but flat) that help you move around longer distances in the exchanges between Metro and RER at Châtelet are going to be closed at various times as the RATP undertakes repairs.

The sign I have seen says:

For your comfort, we are updating the moving walkways at Châtelet-Les Halles to ensure the correspondences between the RER lines and the metro lines 1, 7, and 11.

These operations will necessitate the closure of these walkways during the construction work. A rerouting itinerary will be established. Details on the back.

(And shows a map on the back with the words "We invite you to use sortie/exit 1 to go to sortie/exit 11 and 13, and the inverse.". Ok so this is fine if you have a pass like me, but a user with tickets is now going to have to use two tickets !)

The headline of the poster reads:

Châtelet - Les Halles
Successive closures of moving walkways from:
February 14 through July 31, 2023
October 30 2023 through April 20, 2024

This may well affect people's decisions on whether they want to take the RER from the airport to their lodging

Sorry not to have more details. Will post if I see anything.

Those walkways are pretty amazing in good and bad ways

This is by far the worst station in Paris for transferring. Without the walkways it will be even more chaotic.

Yes, it's already a best practice to devise an itinerary that avoids changing here. Now it will be even more important to avoid, especially for those traveling with luggage.
