Moulin Rouge

Hi
I’m considering attending a Moulin Rouge show while in Paris. Has anyone attended?
Thoughts….

Also do not intend to pack a sports jacket. Will I feel out of place?

I don't have personal experience, but I know that we get a question every year or two.

If you pop Moulin Rouge in the grey search bar (top of the page on a laptop, under the hamburger on a phone) and filter to the Forum there are several older threads which have answers to some of your questions. I saw one which addressed clothing.

I have seen the show and thats why I suggested it to you.. you dont need a sport jacket. I didn’t wear one and i did not feel out of place. But people did dress up a bit. You’re seeing a show. To compare- its like seeing a las vegas show with elaborate costumes, singing, dancing, cirque d’soleil acts between dance numbers and tastefully exposed topless women. Very french. No raunch. sedate for Parisien tastes, but entertaining for the rest of us.
The MR has been entertaining guests sine 1889 and is the birthplace of the “can-can”
The show has nothing to do with the broadway musical.
While touristy, it is not a tourist trap. The cost of the tickets is well worth it for the quality of the show. You can book direct from their website. No need to go through viator or a tour group. The ticket office staff speaks English, if that is a concern.
If the dinner show is too expensive for you. You can eat dinner at the many restaurants in the montmarte area uphill from the venue and just get show tickets and you’ll be in the back or sides, as the dinner/show combo gets the better seats.
Dinner was good and filling. Its not Michelin quality. But you are not there for the food. Dinner comes with a bottle of champagne.
Its a short walk from the hotel b.
Tripadvisor has many reviews. But take those with a grain of salt. The show has nothing to do with the broadway musical and lots of prudes were shocked by the revealing costumes.
This venue is unique to Paris and worth experiencing.

No jacket needed, but we dressed nicely. My recommendation would be to pay for the VIP seats (or whatever they call them). Instead of being crammed into a table with people you don't know and no room between other tables, you have plenty of space and a great view (although from further away from the tables near the stage). You also get to hang out in the lounge before hand with champagne (in addition to the champagne they give you at the table). I don't remember how much more it was, but I know I left happy that we paid the extra amount. The show was a lot of fun and easy to follow even if you don't speak French
